Discover the richness of God-centered meditative prayer in our Fall Book Club as we explore Rich Lewis’s inspiring book, Sitting with God: A Journey to Your True Self Though Centering Prayer. Through personal experience and deep spiritual insight, Lewis invites us on a journey to a deeper connection with God—not just in prayer, but in every part of life.

Together, we’ll embark on a seven-week adventure, with each Monday evening dedicated to the exploration and discussion of key concepts from the book.

Weekly Reading Assignments: Throughout the club, we’ll follow weekly reading assignments, covering approximately twenty-five pages per week. This pace ensures a comprehensive understanding of the material while allowing time for reflection.
Free Admission: There’s no charge to join our Fall Book Club. We believe in making this enriching experience accessible to everyone who wishes to participate. The only cost you’ll bear is purchasing the book at your favorite bookstore. The book is available in both paperback and audio formats.
Optional Participation: We welcome everyone to join our discussions, whether you prefer to actively participate or simply listen and learn. All are welcome!

About the Book Club Facilitators
Teresa Yerkes, founder of the Christian Meditation Center, has been a devoted Christian since 1983 and has practiced Christian meditation since 2000. She is the author of five books. Teresa teaches and leads Christian meditation training and sessions. She is a public speaker who facilitates book clubs and leads retreats. As a Certified Lay Speaker and Lay Counselor, she brings over forty years of personal discovery and highly specialized spiritual direction training from the Shalem Institute to her work. In 2023, she organized a coalition comprised of like-minded people who also have a passion for teaching Christian meditation.
Teresa’s career was primarily in business administration. She is married to her husband, Bill, and is a mother to three children and a grandmother to six grandchildren. She loves their two yellow labs, Lucy and Peaches, and their cat, Gracie. Her favorite pastime is spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys reading and taking walks with her husband and their dogs.
Rich Lewis is an author, speaker and coach focusing on Centering Prayer as a means of inner transformation. He teaches Centering Prayer in both his local and virtual community and offers One on One Coaching. He publishes a weekly meditation, book reviews and interviews on his site, Silence Teaches. Rich’s newest book is titled, Sitting with God: A Journey To Your True Self Through Centering Prayer.
He has published articles for a number of organizations including Abbey of the Arts , Contemplative Outreach , EerdWord , In Search of a New Eden the Ordinary Mystic at Patheos, The Contemplative Writer and the Christian Meditation Center.
Rich has been a daily practitioner of Centering Prayer since June 1, 2014. Centering Prayer has been so life giving and life changing that he feels compelled to share his journey with others who wish to learn more. Rich resides with his family in Waxhaw, NC.
