Teresa Yerkes, President
Teresa Yerkes, Founder of Christian Meditation Center, has been a Christian since 1983 and has practiced meditation since 2000. She leads seminars, book clubs and retreats. Teresa is a Certified Lay Speaker within her local community church for nearly twenty years and has presented sermons and served as Liturgist during worship services. She is also a Certified Lay Christian Counselor.
Teresa brings thirty years of her own personal discovery, along with highly specialized spiritual direction training from the Shalem Institute. She is extensively trained and has taught meditation in healthcare, education, workplaces, community and church settings. She has authored the book, Making Love—The Spiritual Act of Love.
Teresa is very grateful to such authors as, Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, Thomas Merton, Brother Lawrence, Thomas Keating, Tilton Edwards, John Main, Richard Rohr, James Finley and many more. For without these Christian authors we would not have the volumes of knowledge on this subject or the cloud of witnesses that validate the importance of this discipline.
Teresa has worked in both the manufacturing and the healthcare industries. She has over eighteen years of business experience and has held positions, such as Training Manager, Organizational Development Manager, Regional Practice Administrator and an Administrative Services Director.
